We were asked by our client to design, install and commission a new L1 Fire Detection & Fire Alarm System in a brand new purpose-built student campus in St Andrews. Due to the high occupancy levels and varied fire risks, a reliable and compliant fire alarm solution was essential to ensure occupant safety and meet all legal requirements a building like this demands.
This multi-panel networked system covers a wide variety of studio accommodation, apartments, kitchens, event spaces, laundry rooms and study rooms all of which required a powerful and reliable solution. For this we used our OOH740 Multi-Sensors which suit these highly demanding environments and ensure optimal protection with no false alarms.
In addition to the fire detection, we have installed disabled refuge systems (EVC) throughout the campus ensuring the safe evacuation of occupants, especially those with mobility impairments. To compliment this we have also utilised a site wide paging system linked to the Fire System which can distribute critical messages across the property, providing accurate location alerts giving the client valuable time to investigate alerts and respond quickly and efficiently.
Following the installation and commissioning we provide routine fire maintenance inspections and system monitoring for fire response to ensure ongoing compliance and optimal performance of the system. The site was also added to the clients property portal where they now have full access to their reports, interactive floor plans and asset data.
