We were approached by our client to assess some existing fire systems on their estate and following a review of the client’s risk assessments and specific requirements, we identified that the existing legacy fire alarm equipment was due for upgrade to bring the systems up to a more functional and robust standard. Through detailed site surveys and in-house design work, we were able to develop a clear upgrade strategy and phased replacement plan. A 10-month programme was agreed with all key stakeholders and managed by our project team from start to finish.

Specialist Detection & Design
The complexity of the industrial spaces across the site required a specialist approach to fire detection, particularly across hazardous and difficult-to-protect areas. Our in-house design team developed bespoke detection solutions to suit the different environments across the site.

Hazardous Areas
We’ve utilised hazardous-area detection across the estate using explosion-proof call points and sounders, together with intrinsically safe smoke detection, all designed and installed in accordance with the relevant COMPEX and ATEX requirements.

Linear Smoke Detection
Linear smoke detection was utilised across various roof areas, including large voids and areas above critical equipment where conventional point detection would not have been practical or suitable.

Aspirating Smoke Detection (ASD)
ASD’s were deployed within critical risk areas where early warning of a potential fire was essential. These provide highly sensitive early-stage detection while maintaining reliable performance across the protected areas.

Summary
Our design expertise allowed us to select the most appropriate detection technology for each building, providing reliable coverage while avoiding unnecessary equipment and minimising disruption to the site. By combining detailed surveys, specialist knowledge and in-house design capability, we were able to deliver a tailored fire detection solution that met the specific risks, environmental conditions and operational requirements of the site.
